About SCWW
Steve Rasmussen, Owner
RI General Contractor Lic. #12277
After over 20 years of finish carpentry experience, Steve Rasmussen has opened South County WoodWorks Inc. “My vision was to concentrate on restoring some of the beautiful historic houses here in South County."
Steve also wanted to work with the most skilled carpenters, and has assembled an extraordinary team. Steve sees SCWW as a small group of skilled artisans dedicated to restoring the integrity of our historic homes here in this special area. As a licensed general contractor, Steve serves as the team leader for all SCWW renovation projects.
EXPERIENCE: Steve was initiated into carpentry as a framer in 1985. Within a short time he was hired and refining his skills as a cabinet maker, and worked on teams that renovated several South County institutions that included The Coast Guard House, Charlie O's Tavern and Caseys.
Early in the 1990's, Steve spent time out west "becoming a journeyman the old-fashioned way.” He worked in California for a boutique renovation company and also lent his skills to help rebuild Hawaiian island of Kauai after hurricane Iniki. Steve's projects at the time included building custom, exotic hardwood furniture and installing Corian for Bruce Willis and Demi Moore in Hanalei.
After his return to RI, Steve and his wife Deborah bought a ca.1710 cape in South County in desperate need of repair. This was when Steve truly fell in love with the unique challenge of historic renovation. Even while working on professional kitchen & bath remodels and building additions, Steve still found time to restore Benjamin Northup House to its early glory.
Steve lives in Wakefield with his wife Deborah, his sons Nathan and Curtis and his niece Portia.
